Home Decor: Thanksgiving Style

Monday, November 21, 2011

I love Thanksgiving and everything about it.
Spending the day with the family, giving thanks for
everything, cooking, eating and also the decor.

Here are some ideas for centerpieces for
the day. They're simple and easy and elegant.

1. Use your creativity and imagination by simply using candles and vases.

Playing Dress Up: Sweater Fest

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

During Winter I've the opportunity
to wear all my cozy and warm sweaters!
I love the ones with the big cowl necks,
the ones with neutral colors and sometimes bright colors too.

Just add a pair of boots, either a high heels booties
or riding boots, whatever style your prefer is just perfect
as long they're warm and comfortable.
Don't forget your accessories to make the look pop,
such as a great bag, a scarf or earrings.

Have fun this Winter with your sweater fest!

Pumpkin Butter Pancakes

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I recently got a jar of pumpkin butter but didn't know what to do with it.
Then, I decided to incorporate the pumpkin butter into pancakes
and it turned out to be delicious.
Sorry that I don't have the actual photo for the pancakes
but the recipe is easy to follow.
Enjoy and happy cooking!

1¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup pumpkin butter
1 egg beaten
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon cooking oil

Mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and salt). Combine egg, milk, pumpkin butter and oil and add all at once to flour mixture. Stir until blended, but still slightly lumpy. Pour about ¼ cup batter onto a hot, lightly greased skillet or griddle. Allow them to brown on one side (this should take 2 minutes), then flip and allow them to brown on the other side. Serve warm and top it with some pumpkin butter.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and while
I was waiting I noticed again this quote on the wall
in the waiting room:
" the serious business of Heaven."
by C.S. Lewis
And I kept thinking and thinking and thinking.
So, what is joy?

It's a state of happiness, felicity (I love this word) or bliss.
A source or cause of pure delight!
Suddenly the tiny word joy became
entirely different before my eyes.

And this brought another quote into my mind:
"Joy is the settled assurance that God is
in control of all the details of my life;
the quiet confidence that ultimately
everything is going to be okay;
and the determined choice to
praise God in all things."
by Kay Warren

So, what is joy for you?
what is your state of happiness?
Your bliss?
what causes pure delight in you or in your life?

Joy is really a serious business, isn't it?

"It's Ok" Thursdays

Its Ok Thursdays
I'm linking up for the first time with
Brunch with Amber and A Complete Waste of Makeup.
It's ok...
...that ever since hitting my third trimester my brain has
officially stopped working properly. I keep forgetting things
all the time.
...that my husband almost burned our house down this week while
trying to fry an egg. Thank God nothing serious happened!
...that I'm obsessed with cleaning. I cleaned the house
everyday this week. I guess I'm in my nesting period of my pregnancy.
...that I've been a little lazy with my posts lately but that will
change next week. I promise!
...that I'm a pinner, that's right a pinner! anyone else obsessed with
Pinterest 'cause I am.
So, what are you ok with this Thursday?
Love to hear from you!
